In 2003, the Guinness Book of Records recognized Russian Dzhambulat Khatokhov, who was 4 years old at the time, as the ‘heaviest child in the world’.

During his childhood and puberty, his numbers were impressive, but also alarming (for his health): At 2 years old, he weighed 34 kilograms (kg); at 7, 101 kg; and at 13, 180 kg, according to Russian media.

Over the years, Khatokhov continued to gain weight and became a professional sumo wrestler.

The news was made public by Betal Gubzhev, head of the Sumo Federation of Kabardino-Balkaria, the region from which the wrestler was a native.

“Dzhambulat Khatokhov has passed away. My condolences to his family and friends, ”Gubzhev said on social media, according to the ‘Reuters’ news agency.

Local media reported that the young man, who was only 21 years old at the time of his death, had kidney problems.

He starred in a documentary

Being a little boy, Khatokhov appeared in the documentary ‘The World’s Greatest Boy’, ‘People’ magazine said.
