Yuly Daniela Patiño Pérez disappeared on December 25 in the streets of Manrique. According to the newspaper El Colombiano, she was seen for the last time in this sector by her family and friends, who this morning decided to close the Regional road, in the Moravia sector to demand that the authorities immediately search for the young woman’s body.
The family notified the authorities of the disappearance, after the cosmetology student did not arrive at the traditional sancocho organized every year, after the Christmas celebration.
According to the information of his closest ones, Daniela was allegedly murdered by her ex-partner, whom she met on the same day of her disappearance. Apparently, they argued and he would have murdered her at dawn on the 26th.
Four days later, on the morning of December 30, the Police reported that the aggressor, whose identity was unknown, committed suicide in his place of detention with a knife.
El Colombiano reported that, from the Mayor’s Office, the Undersecretary of Human Rights and the Secretariat for Women, they have accompanied the investigation of the authorities seeking to corroborate the facts and find the whereabouts of the body of Daniela Patiño.
The Antioquia media shared that, the searches on the river began on December 29, They had not been possible before, due to the constant rains that fell on Medellín on the holiday bridge of the 24th.
This operation was confirmed by the DAGRD Disaster Risk Management Administrative Department, who posted on its Twitter account that it has the support of Siata and the Metropolitan Area, because the search may have to be carried out outside of Medellín. It was also confirmed that they have the support of drones from the Early Warning System, in addition to the help of the Medellín Fire Department and the Metropolitan Police.
Eradication of violence against women in Medellín
As reported by RCN Radio, the Mayor’s Office of Medellín led an accompaniment process in Commune 16 – Belén, women at risk, victims of violence and those who face barriers to access health, protection and justice who reside in this sector of the city.
The radio station shared that in the project workshops were held with groups of ten leaders of the Local Administrative Board, and social organizations on various issues, such as gender-based violence, care routes for women victims of violence, among others.
The Secretary for Women, Juliana Martínez, added that the experience also resulted in a research hotbed made up of 30 adult women and men.
“For the closing, 500 families received a picnic basket containing breads, chicken, nuts, drinks and a game as a way of fostering dialogue and discussion in their family group about violence against women, but in a special way so that make commitments in their homes that contribute to the eradication of violence against women, ”said the Secretary for Women.
Martínez added, “We accompanied one of these exercises and what we found was the possibility that each one’s experience could serve to achieve joint agreements as a family.”
The Medellín Women’s Secretariat set up a telephone and WhatsApp line for this project, in which psychologists and lawyers support the care of women.
