There is pain and repudiation in the República de Venezuela neighborhood for the death of one of its residents. This is Ángel Enrique Arrieta Mattos, 42, who died this Saturday morning at the Hospital Universitario del Caribe.

His relatives assure that Ángel was in good health and physical condition. They claim that the death occurred after a police procedure in which the deceased was beaten with bobbins and kicked inside his home. This happened on the morning of December 25.

“He was drinking a few meters from the house, when police from the CAI of Las Gaviotas arrived and began to search, but my father did not have his documents, so he got scared and ran towards the house. The police arrived there and beat him, ”said a daughter of the deceased.

He added that he was taken to the Olaya Herrera Barracks, where “they continued to beat him” and at 4 in the afternoon they sent him home.

“He was vomiting blood and he told us that several policemen beat him at the CAI.” They say they tried to heal his wounds, but that night his health worsened, then he was taken to the HUC where he died.
