On the morning of this Thursday, December 17, the Mayor of Manizales announced a series of restrictive measures that will be applied in the city in the celebration of Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The objective is to avoid crowds, bad behavior of citizens and increase in cases of Coronavirus.
There will be a curfew on December 25 from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on the same day, just as the sale of liquor at this same time is prohibited. For the celebration of the end of the year there will also be a curfew that will begin at 1:00 am on January 1 and end at 10:00 am on the same day, where there will also be dry law at the same time.
Another restrictive measure is that the closure of roads for Christmas celebrations in the different neighborhoods of the city will not be allowed.
“We are going to do a check with the police, people will be punished if they fail to comply with the measures and the law. We ask for a lot of civic responsibility and the consumption of liquor in public areas is prohibited, “said Diana Mejía, Secretary of the Government of Manizales.
The Secretary of Health, Carlos Humberto Orozco, pointed out that these types of measures are essential to reduce the number of infections and a lot of civic responsibility is sought.
- The Christmas gatherings must be done with the same family group or those who live together, and not have outside people.
- It is recommended not to have more than 10 people in the celebrations
- Have ventilated areas
“Although we have experienced an improvement in the curve, the trend in ICU occupancy persists, as we have 68% occupancy. The restriction on the sale of liquor in bars and restaurants after 10:00 pm still does not apply, since to date we do not have a 70% occupancy. We hope not to reach that percentage because there we would have to apply the National Government circular, “said Carlos Humberto Orozco, Manizales Secretary of Health.
The Mayor’s Office invited citizens to make virtual purchases and support local businesses, in turn, merchants must maximize biosecurity protocols.
“We are not limiting an employer to restrict the schedule, except the measures of the protocols. We expect merchants to be very strict with biosafety controls, “said Juan Felipe Jaramillo, secretary of ICT and Competitiveness.
