Governor analyzed with the Vice Minister of Health the situation of COVID-19 in Santander

This Wednesday, 683 new infections of Coronavirus and 10 deaths were reported in Santander, the highest number in the month of December of positive cases and an indicator that cases are on the rise.

In total, there are 59,620 cases in the department, of which 4,484 are active, 52,297 recovered and 2,166 have died.

Against this background, the Governor’s government team and the COVID-19 situation rooms, met with the Vice Minister of Health and evaluated the indicators of the pandemic and other pathologies that have occurred during the holiday season.

As reported by the Government of Santander, in accordance with the increase in the occupancy of ICU beds, “we have determined to join the joint circular between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior, to restrict the marketing of alcoholic beverages after 10 pm in establishments in the metropolitan area ”.

Similarly, the following recommendations were established to take into account during the season:

– With an ICU occupancy greater than 75%, procedures that are not urgent in otorhinolaryngology, laparoscopy, bariatric, cosmetic surgery, maxillofacial and dentistry should be reprogrammed.

– Shopping centers and commercial establishments must respect the 30% capacity.

– The ban on public and private events is maintained.

– Vigilance will be intensified to avoid the use of gunpowder and there will be special protection for the high-risk population.

“These recommendations allow us to control the increase in COVID-19 cases in our department so that we do not have situations to regret on these dates of family union,” said the president of Santander.
