Public transport is one of the most frequent scenarios of insecurity in Bogotá. Robberies, sexual harassment and homicides are some of the scourges that most concern citizens. In the most recent case, a 54-year-old citizen, identified by the name of Wilfrido Murcia, lost his life inside a SITP bus, after receiving two bullet wounds in an attempted assault.

As reported by Transmilenio, the events occurred at the height of the Tunal Shopping Center on the route covered by the Verbenal de Sur-20 de Julio service, when a subject got into the vehicle with a firearm with the intention of assaulting the users.

Apparently, the victim tried to oppose the robbery and it was when he was shot, one in his abdomen and another in his chest.

According to the Ministry of Health, when the ambulance arrived at the scene, the user had already died.

Transmilenio forcefully rejected the events and reported that it will provide all the necessary cooperation to the authorities to find those responsible for the passenger’s murder.
