On the other hand, Miyerlandi Torres, Cali Health Secretary, emphasizes that false realities can increase the proliferation of the virus in the territory of the city. “These three types of tests, some are endorsed. The important thing here is to go to health institutions that have authorization from the departmental Health Secretariat. That they have the authorization seal. This guarantees that the tests carried out in these laboratories meet all the requirements ”, expressed the official.

The authorities in Valle del Cauca believe that there may be more institutions that issue altered COVID-19 results and they are on the trail of said health institutions that operate without the endorsement of the departmental and municipal administration.

As of today, the department has a total of 114,136 confirmed cases. In the latest report from the National Institute of Health (INS), the territory registered 721 new cases of the virus and 32 deaths.

On the other hand, Cali, capital of the department, accumulated 15 of the 32 deaths in its territory. The total number of deaths from the disease in Valle del Cauca is 3,663. Of these, 2,682 correspond to the largest city in the department, which registers 82,187 confirmed cases to date.

However, the municipality registers 74,883 recovered people, with a recovery percentage that exceeds 91% of cases and a fatality rate of only 2.9%. However, it is one of the largest sources of contagion in the country.

Valle does not lower contagions

At the end of November, the District Mayor’s Office of Cali declared an orange alert in the capital of Valle del Cauca with the intention of extending prevention and biosecurity measures during the Christmas season, due to the worrying increase in COVID-19 cases that the city presents.

District Administration raised the alert from yellow to orange due to an increase in infections in recent weeks, the increase in deaths and patients who have required ICU beds in hospitals.

What evidences a need during the festivities of “Take extreme measures to prevent self-care against the high risk of a second wave caused by Sars-Cov2, since there is still a significant number of the population susceptible to contagion”, the mayor’s office said in a statement.
