The day began in Moscow, where there are already new vaccination centers that will be open from this Saturday throughout the city.
The Russian capital opened 70 centers, initially for social workers, medical personnel and teachers. “It is possible to vaccinate citizens of the main risk groups who, due to their professional activities, are in contact with many people,” authorities said.
Russia was one of the first countries to announce the development of a vaccine – named Sputnik V by the Soviet satellite – in August, even before large-scale clinical trials began.

The vaccine is currently in the third and final phase of clinical trials involving 40,000 volunteers.
Its creators announced last month a 95% efficacy rate, according to interim results, and that the vaccine would be cheaper and easier to store and transport than others.
The vaccine, administered in two doses 21 days apart, it is of the “viral vector” type and uses two human adenoviruses.
It will be free for Russian citizens and will be administered voluntarily.
On Saturday, health authorities said that during this first phase of vaccination in Moscow, the vaccine would not be administered to workers over 60, people with chronic diseases, pregnant or lactating women.
They did not indicate when the treatment would be available to the general public.
On Friday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobianin announced that 5,000 people had signed up in the next five hours at the opening of the online registration.
“I want to be sure that the coronavirus will not infect me and my relatives,” Sergei Bulayev, 42, who works in the insurance sector, told AFP on Saturday.
Russia reported 28,782 new infections in 24 hours on Saturday, a daily record, bringing the total to 2,431,731 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
The country is fourth in the world in terms of number of cases.
