The accomplices of the attack were the sister of the mastermind and a friend. The Police managed to capture the material responsible for the crime.
A terrifying case became known in the last hours in Bogotá: a man had his partner burned with acid, confessed to the family and later took his own life. Although the subject was the one who ordered the attack, it was two women (his sister and a friend) who perpetrated the crime. Both were captured.
The unusual case was presented on November 13. That day the victim was riding with her boyfriend on a motorcycle and they stopped in front of the General Santander Transmilenio station. After parking, the man got off the motorcycle and walked a couple of meters away, with the excuse of answering a call.
It was at that moment when a woman, dressed in black, took advantage of the fact that the 21-year-old was alone and threw the acid at her. Then he fled the scene. Hours later, the victim reported the incident to the Police, a body that immediately began the investigation. And it was a matter of days before the pieces of the case began to fit together.
When collecting the first data, the detectives learned that days before, the victim had received threatening messages on her phone. The uniformed men were suspicious of the woman’s boyfriend, because according to their account, there had already been episodes of jealousy and verbal and psychological attacks in the relationship. In addition, the subject had had mental health problems and had been in a specialized clinic.
The suspicions of the authorities were confirmed three days later, when it was the perpetrator himself who confessed his crime to his girlfriend’s family. In the story, he not only indicated that the material perpetrators had been his sister and a friend, but also gave a conversation in which his accomplice mentions the details of the crime. Immediately, the relatives of the victim informed the authorities.

That was how they discovered that the threats had been made by the victim’s own boyfriend and that it was he who gave the acid to his sister. Days after the sinister plan was exposed, the mastermind took his own life.
Thanks to the cameras in the area, the Police have step by step how the crime was perpetrated, which ratify the story. “Thanks to the work in record time of the Sijín of the Bogotá Police, more than 80 hours of video was collected that allowed us to analyze all the activities that were carried out before, during and after the events,” said Colonel María Elena Gómez Méndez, head of the SIJIN of the Bogotá Police.
For his part, the victim thanked the authorities for putting those responsible behind bars. “I just hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else, as it is difficult. They caused me physical and emotional damage. Thank God I have the support of my family and those close to me. I want this to serve as an example for women to speak up and not remain silent, ”she said.
The two women involved will have to answer for the crime of attack with a chemical and / or acid agent.
