This Tuesday the Supreme Court of Justice issued an arrest warrant against the senator of the U Party, Eduardo Pulgar, for allegedly commission of the crime of influence peddling. The congressman was arrested this morning by a group of CTI agents attached to the high court, who approached him at El Dorado Airport, from Bogota.

Hours later, his lawyer, Jaime Granados, reported that they were abiding by the decision of the Investigation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.

He also asked that Pulgar’s delicate state of health be assessed, “That makes him prone to multiple and serious diseases and allows him to undergo the insurance measure in a place that does not endanger his life”.

Finally, the defense of the detained parliamentarian pointed out: “Although we cannot refer to any details of the facts or the file, we will continue to defend the Pulgar guarantees and we trust that soon and definitively he will regain his freedom and his innocence will be proven”.

Investigation for alleged bribery of a judge

In July of this year, journalist Daniel Coronell revealed that one day in 2017 at that time Eduardo Pulgar, in his first term as senator, invited the then municipal judge of Usiacurí, in the department of Atlántico, Andrés Rodríguez Cáez to his home.
