The procedure is presented by the complaint made by General William Salamanca, inspector of the National Police, who is in charge of the disciplinary trial against the director of that institution.
Salamanca, according to Caracol Radio, denounced an alleged manipulation of evidence in the case of General Óscar Atehortúa Duque, in a public housing project built in Tolima.
The Attorney General’s Office filed charges against the director of the police. The first, according to Semana, by “Alleged ignorance of the principle of responsibility”, as he is questioned that as general director of the Revolving Fund he could be involved in a very serious misconduct for having participated in the execution of contracts.
The second charge, maintains that Atehortúa did not declare himself impeded in the face of the disciplinary file related to the alleged irregularities in the construction of the public housing project; and the third is about the alleged excess of duties, since he would have used a captain to verify how the process of the construction of houses was being carried out.
General William René Salamanca, during the disciplinary trial carried out by the Attorney General’s Office against the current director of the Police, General Óscar Atehortúa Duque, assured that he fears for his safety and that of his family, for which he requested the Attorney General of the Nation consider the state of danger surrounding him and the men under his command. He also denounced that, for a few days, he has felt persecuted and has seen strange movements in the vicinity of his apartment.
General Salamanca, El Tiempo pointed out, He has received information from active members and police officers in good use about the danger of the situation and asked to protect his family. Likewise, he informed the Attorney General’s Office that the employee who works in his home has felt intimidated by strangers, who have asked him who he works for and the general’s private information. “My life is in danger,” he assured the control body. In addition, he pointed out that his mother, 81, was forced to move, for health reasons, but that confidential information was leaked and she also fears for her safety.
This is not an isolated event, as the general pointed out to several officials of the Inspection, who are requesting transfers or asking to unsubscribe, as they fear for their integrity. According to El Tiempo, members of the public force believe that his life is in danger.
One of the cases mentioned by General Salamanca, during the hearing, is that of a captain, who was in charge of the investigations carried out into the events that occurred in Bogotá during the protests of September 9, and who has received death threats in four times. His resume was leaked from the Human Talent office of the Police and his photo circulated on social networks. The captain made the decision to suspend active members of the Police, which represented, according to General Salamanca, a serious risk to his life.
