These are some of the first images obtained this Tuesday after the Colombian Air Force overflights over Providencia. According to the latest report, the health center is completely destroyed and, so far, three people have been missing, two have died and at least 30 have been injured.

Around noon, once the weather conditions were favorable, a Colombian Air Force aircraft left Cartagena for the Archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia. These first images are obtained from its overflight before reaching Providencia. (We recommend: Hurricane Iota, a nightmare for Providencia)

One of the first problems that Iota caused in its devastating tour of the San Andrés and Providencia archipelago was that it left both islands practically isolated. Almost 24 hours after its passage, very little is known about it. The hurricane, which quickly rose from category 2 to 5, causing damage to 98% of Providencia’s infrastructure, also caused the total destruction of the island’s health center. According to the latest report on the state of Providencia, so far 3 people are missing, 2 are dead, and at least 30 are injured.

With the Air Force aircraft arrive 3.5 tons of humanitarian aid, as well as a search and rescue team from the Army and the National Unit for Risk and Disaster Management (UNGRD). President Iván Duque also arrived in Providencia in the company of his work team. The island continues without communication.
