Youtube Rewind 2020 is canceled

For the first time since 2010, Youtube will not release a commemorative video of the retrospective series YouTube Rewind, which visits the main events and moments of the year.

This is due, as the company’s message indicates, to the heavy and difficult spirit that was established in the year 2020.

“Since 2010, we closed the years with Rewind: a retrospective of the creators, videos and trends with the greatest impact of the year”says the message on Twitter. “In case you like it, or just remember 2018, Rewind was always meant to be a celebration for you.”

“But 2020 has been different. And it’s not okay to continue as if it wasn’t. So we’re going to take a break from Rewind this year.”

“We know that a lot of the good that happened in 2020 was created by all of you”, continues the statement. “You found ways to cheer people up, help them cope, and make them laugh. You made a tough year really better.”

“Thanks for making a difference”

In recent years, YouTube Rewind has been the source of some controversy. As mentioned in the message itself, for example, the 2018 edition of the retrospective was the most rejected video on the platform.
