Jonas Pereira da Silva, 21, a slackline practitioner who died after falling from a 70-meter-high rope in the Federal District, this Saturday (11/28), used his personal profile on social networks to publicize the sport.

On his Instagram @jonasslackline, practically all the publications are related to the modality. In the page description, Jonas wrote: “Slakcline: balance of body and mind”, described the sports lover.

In the most recent video, posted seven days ago, Jonas’s friends seem not to believe in doom and regret the early parting. See the messages below:

“The BR highline family sends light so that your walk is light and quiet. Rest in peace”says another friend.

Tribute

Friend and member of the Brazilian Slackline Association, Matheus Samir de Oliveira paid tribute to the young man on his social networks, this Sunday morning (11/29).

On his official Instagram profile, in a public post, Matheus wrote:

“The high line is lower today, and heaven has never had anyone so prepared for heights!

I love you very much, my brother! You were my teacher, my best student, and the most amazing friend that ever lived my life, thank you for sharing your life with me!
I love you!”

Accident

The case was registered at the 35th Police Station (Sobradinho 2). According to the fact, it is an accidental death with no definite cause, knowing only that the young man, a fan of extreme sports, died when he fell from a cliff.

Also according to the bulletin registered in the PCDF, the 21-year-old had been practicing sport for 4 years. There is still information that Jonas Pereira da Silva was a professional athlete and record holder of the sport in Brasilia, according to witnesses who accompanied him at the event.

The victim was the only one who managed to cross the belt of the same size previously, from approximately 300 meters away, between one hill and another, without falling.

It was the second time Jonas and three friends had visited the place. Preliminary information shows that he was using the safety seat and may have forgotten to tie the equipment to the strap, using a safety ring, known as a strap ring, which is used to keep athletes suspended in the event of falls.

Remains

According to information from the Federal District Fire Department (CBMDF), Jonas Pereira da Silva was swinging on the rope at the Grande Otelo Film and Video Center in Sobradinho.

He lost his balance, fell into the valley, and a CBMDF team was immediately called in. Initially, the military estimated that the fall had occurred from a height of 15 meters, but later confirmed 70 meters.

Firefighters had to use abseiling techniques to rescue the victim. The rescue took place with five vehicles, a helicopter, a drone and 28 soldiers. The boy suffered severe head trauma and several fractures. The death was confirmed by the medical team of the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu), which was part of the CBMDF helicopter crew.

Firefighters reported that three other people practiced the sport, which basically consists of crossing openings between two fixed points, using a rope for support.
