Two people were killed and five injured Saturday night in the Canadian city of Quebec when they were stabbed by a young man who was arrested, police said.
The suspect, a young man in his 20s armed with a sword and dressed in “medieval” clothes, was arrested shortly before 1 am (3 am Brasilia), announced Etienne Doyon, spokesman for the city’s police, without revealing the reason. of the attack on Halloween night.
The attacks took place in the historic center of the city, near the Chateau Frontenac hotel and the National Assembly, Quebec’s provincial parliament.

According to three witnesses cited by the newspaper Le Soleil, the attacker killed the first victim near the Chateau Frontenac hotel. The second person died on Remparts Street.

The suspect was arrested after a chase through the streets of Old Quebec, Doyon said.
The attacker was identified, but the police did not reveal his identity.

The five victims who survived the attack sustained serious injuries.
Police did not release any details about the identities or ages of the victims.
The suspect turned himself in to police and, at the time of his arrest, was on the floor, barefoot and hypothermic, Le Soleil said.
