The Xbox Series S, a console formerly known as Project Lockhart, was officially confirmed and unveiled by Microsoft on Monday. The device, less powerful and cheaper than the Xbox Series X, will hit the US market for $ 299. There is no official price for Brazil yet.
The reveal of this version of the next generation of Microsoft happened in the social networks of the company, after leaks from Thurrott, a site specialized in technology, in the early hours of this Monday. The device, which promises to be “the smallest Xbox ever made”, will be white (like the controller) and will have a large side ventilation, similar to the one that the Xbox Series X has on top. See:
Additionally, Microsoft revealed the technical specs for the Xbox Series S (via Thurrott): The console will be 100% digital, which means it won’t have a disc player. The device will also work with a resolution of 1440p (with the possibility of scaling to 4K) and 120 FPS (frames per second). The S Series will offer ray tracing technology, variable shading and refresh rates, a 512GB SDD.
The console does not have a specific release date yet. The new generation of Microsoft, however, reaches the end of the year; Series X is scheduled to launch in November. More details on the S Series will be revealed “soon,” according to the company.
