Of the 13 goals conceded at Brasileirão, eight were like this. Completing the count is a penalty goal, two from outside the area and two more from the ground worked by the rival.

Even between crossed goals, there are nuances: three were conceded from corners, for example.

Not all the plays were completed from above: the other five goals came from finishing with the foot behind the center, in different situations: the ge counted, for example, the failure of Gabriel Batista against Bahia, and the goal against. Filipe Luís against Atlético-MG.

The origin of the goals conceded by Flamengo

The dome works dead balls

Against Ceará, coach Domènec Torrent pointed out that the team suffered a lot from a dead ball, precisely something trained with greater emphasis in the days leading up to the game.

– In five minutes, the game escaped us. Two sets, precisely this week we are working on all this. We scored two goals, the coach lamented.

Defense numbers from above

The problem is not only the plays from above. Against Ceará, for example, the defending duo formed by Gustavo Henrique and Léo Pereira won 10 of 15 air disputes. However, in one of the times the defenders were defeated, Luiz Otávio scored the goal.

Flamengo’s top three defenders have reasonable numbers in air disputes, but still lower than those of the two category leaders in Brasileirão, considering those with a reasonable sample of disputes. Check out:

The numbers at the top of the Brasileirão

Gustavo Henrique Flamengo 4.0 74%
Rodrigo Caio Flamengo 2.9 72%
Leo Pereira Flamengo 3.3 66%

Flamengo’s next challenge will be Thursday against Independiente del Valle from Ecuador. The match is valid for the third round of the Libertadores group stage and will be played in Quito, at 9:00 p.m. (from Brasilia).
