More than 25 million cases of Covid-19 they were registered worldwide, according to a survey by Johns Hopkins University until the early hours of this Sunday (30).
In total, 25,009,250 people were infected with the Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus, and approximately 842,702 died with Covid-19.
The official number of coronavirus cases worldwide is now five times higher than the total number of severe influenza cases recorded annually, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Together, Brazil and the United States are responsible for four out of ten infections by the coronavirus in the world. Below are the five countries with the most confirmations of Covid-19, according to the US institution:

- Brazil: 3,846,153
- India: 3,542,733
- Russia: 982573
- Peru: 639,435
The 25 million-case mark was reached on the same day that India broke the record for daily infections, held so far by the United States. There were 78,761 new cases confirmed in the Asian country this Sunday, surpassing the 77,299 confirmed infections in a single day, in July, in the US.
Infections have been reported in more than 188 countries and territories since the first cases were reported in Wuhan, China, still as of late December 2019.
In terms of deaths around the world, Brazil and the United States again lead in absolute numbers. The two have 35% of all recorded deaths since the start of the pandemic, 120,262 and 182,779, respectively, according to data from Johns Hopkins.
