A family tragedy marked the night of that Tuesday at Durval de Barros neighborhood, on the border between Contagem and Ibirit, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. According to the Military Police (PM), a 37-year-old woman took her own life after to stab the children, who were hospitalized.
The PM was called around 8pm. The woman’s father said she was being treated for depression and was taking prescription drugs. She was agitated and said she wanted to commit suicide. Yesterday morning, according to him, the woman was more nervous than usual because her 18-year-old son had kicked the family dog. The boy, according to him, is deaf, mute and also uses controlled medication.
When the prime minister arrived at the scene, the woman was still in the room with a wound to her abdomen. With the help of her relatives, the police took her out of the house and took her to another Samu team, but they were unable to revive her and her death was confirmed.
The child and the adolescent were transferred to the Municipal Hospital of Contagem. According to the prime minister, the girl said that her mother was very aggressive yesterday and said that she and her brother were not her children. During the day, she gave them sleeping pills. Upon waking up, she saw her mother in the kitchen and was later stabbed by her. After that, according to the girl, she entered the room of the other young man and stabbed one of his legs.
The Civil Police expert collected the object used in the crime. The woman’s body was transferred to the Legal Medical Institute (IML). The event was recorded by the PM as bodily harm followed by suicide. The case was referred to the Fourth Police Station of Contagem.
