Last Sunday, Santos carried out his first activity on Ecuadorian soil before the clash against LDU, Tuesday, at 7:15 p.m. (Brasilia time), in Quito, for the first leg of the Libertadores round of 16.
The objective of the activity in the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium was to adapt the athletes to the altitude of 2,850 in the Ecuadorian capital. In an interview with Santos TV, goalkeeper Arzul spoke about the importance of understanding the difference in playing under these conditions.
– The difference is brutal from sea level to 2,850 meters, where we are. For example, when you hit, if you (goalkeeper) go out with the ball, you can’t get there. The preference of this adaptation is to study this time on the ball. You can get a little speed, get a feel for the timing of the ball, which is essential. The difficulties here are increasing – said Arzul.
