Brazil surpassed the mark of 330,000 deaths from covid-19 this Saturday (3). With 1,931 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the country has an average of 2,800 deaths in the last seven days. The survey is the consortium of press vehicles of which Twitter it is part, according to data provided by state health departments.

The data represents a decrease compared to the previous days, which was already expected. There is a historic drop in the number of cases and deaths on weekends and holidays due to on-call hours in the secretariats. Even so, the country reached 330,297 deaths and 12,952,621 infected by the disease.

According to data from the University Johns Hopkins, who follows the evolution of the pandemic, only the United States, with almost 555,000 deaths, had more deaths from covid than Brazil. In 2021 alone, more Brazilians died from the infection than the number of victims in the UK during the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours, 40,242 new cases of covid-19 have been reported. The data does not indicate when the deaths and confirmed cases actually occurred, but rather when they began to appear in state databases.
