Fluminense thrashed Coritiba, tonight (28), in Nilton Santos, for the Brazilian Championship, and eased the pressure that surrounded Laranjeiras after his elimination in the Copa do Brasil. The 4-0 victory came with goals from Michel Araújo, Felippe Cardoso, Nino and Ganso.
With the result, the tricolor team reached 17 points and touched the group that is fighting for a place in the Libertadores next year. Coxa, meanwhile, was left with 11 points and will only “sleep” outside the zone, since on Wednesday Botafogo and Bahía face each other and, regardless of the result, they push Jorginho’s team to the stick.
In the next round, Flu faces the classic with Botafogo, in Nilton Santos, on Sunday. Coritiba, for its part, receives São Paulo, in Couto Pereira, at 4:00 p.m.
I quit Covidien no Flu
Fluminense took the field with some absences due to a covid outbreak that hit the staff. Last Saturday, the tests showed nine players positive for coronavirus, including: the right back Calegari, the defender Luccas Clear, the sock Miguel and forwards Luiz Henrique and Marcos Paulo. Already in the group sub-23, defenders Luan and Nascimento, and defenders André and Martinelli.
Birthday goal
The match was still in that initial phase, when the opponents studied, and the tricolor fans were able to celebrate. At 7 minutes, after exchanging passes from Fluminense in the offensive sector, Michel Araújo received it down the middle and hit goalkeeper Wilson’s left corner. The goal came the day the Uruguayan turned 24.
It was his first goal in an official match for the Laranjeiras club. He had previously brandished the net in one of the friendlies with Botafogo that served as preparation for the Brazilian.
Tricolor dominates and “loses” player
Even looking to “populate” the midfield, Coritiba gave space to Fluminense, who managed to get the ball and change passes. One of the most active at the start of the match, however, Wellington Silva felt a muscle discomfort in his left thigh and had to abandon the duel with 20 minutes to go.
Improvement and more balance
Little by little, coach Jorginho’s team went up a bit in production, gained more field and began to have a greater presence in the attack. Even so, he showed a great lack in the creation of the works. The game was balanced, but very stuck in the middle.
Robson misses a clear opportunity
In a moment of pressure from Coritiba, already in the final stretch of the first half, William Matheus crossed into the area and the ball passed through Ferraz. Robson, to Muriel’s face and unmarked, didn’t finish well and sent it off.
He almost redeemed himself
Coritiba returned for the second half and giving a “heat” to Flu. And Robson narrowly didn’t redeem himself from the missed opportunity early on. He gave Hudson a pen and finished, but the ball hit the post.
Entered and scored
At 14 minutes, Odair Hellmann put Felippe Cardoso in Fred’s place. On the attacker’s first play, he spun, dribbled Wilson and sent to the back of the net, extending the tricolor team’s lead.
Again from above
Behind the scoreboard, Coritiba opted for speed, but failed. In one of the escapes from the attack, Flu “received” a foul. In Nenê’s collection, Matheus Ferraz appeared at the back of the defense and aimed for the area, Nino took advantage and made the third.
Thigh without strength
With the score 3-0, Tricolor tried to maintain possession to avoid risks. Coxa, on the other hand, found it very difficult to break the lines and did not indicate the strength to react.
It wasn’t robson’s night
Robson was definitely not having a good night. The player received from the left and took a chance, causing the ball to explode off the crossbar this time.
Expulsion and flight
In the final minutes, Dodi took off and, when he was face to face with Wilson, he was pushed into the area by Nathanael: penalty awarded. Coritiba’s side was expelled. In the collection, Goose made the fourth and closed the tri-color win.
Third uniform debut
Tricolor took advantage of the duel with Coritiba for the debut of the third uniform, launched on the 15th. The shirt is green, with orange details.
