In several statements, President Jair Bolsonaro affirmed that there is no intention to extend emergency aid again.

However, the plan of President Bolsonaro, together with the economic team, is to end the emergency help and release Bolsa Família with a larger amount and be able to benefit more Brazilians.

In addition, there are some benefits that can be anticipated next year to mitigate the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Among these advances, the anticipation of the thirteenth salary of retirees and pensioners of the INSS.

Even so, according to government sources, the release of yet another payment for the emergency withdrawal of the FGTS is being discussed.

Extension of emergency assistance

For a new extension of emergency aid to occur, the government and Congress need to establish ways to pay the new payment.

The government reported that it does not have cash to cover the aid in 2021. Until now, the aid has been financed through a special budget, entitled War budget. The budget is only vUntil december 31, which is when the period of public calamity will end.

Nothing prevents the decree from the period of public calamity from being renewed, however, top government leaders fear that unlimited spending could compromise public accounts and bring economic problems to Brazil.

Both the emergency aid and the extra benefit fees cost the public coffers more than R $ 322 billion.
