Center of a crisis in the Rio de Janeiro PSOL after receiving donations from businessmen for his campaign to the councilor of Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, the black activist and educator Wesley Teixeira, 24, met with Armínio Fraga, former president of the Central Bank , and João Moreira Salles, filmmaker and Itaú heir, among other sponsors of his candidacy, in a virtual meeting organized by Pedro Abramovay, director of the Open Society Foundations for Latin America, and Sueli Carneiro, director of Geledés, Instituto da Mulher Negra.

– I presented my ideas, my career, my struggle in the black movement, against inequalities and anti-capitalist, which is something that I have always made clear. This money will be used for the black occupation in the debate and in the Chamber of Caxias – he told GLOBO.

The young man from Morro do Sapo, in Duque de Caxias, won the support of leftist leaders and intellectuals and decided not to return the R $ 75,000 he received as a donation. Federal deputy Marcelo Freixo threatened to leave PSOL if the acronym takes action against Teixeira’s candidacy.

The municipal board is still debating what action to take. An internal resolution, from 2008, prevents members from receiving donations from large businessmen, real estate speculators and people involved in lawsuits for environmental damage.
