In an interview with the reporter Renata Ceribelli, from Fantástico, Xuxa spoke about the controversial film ‘Amor, Estranho Amor’. The film, directed by Walter Hugo Khouri, was released in 1982, with established names such as Vera Fisher, Tarcísio Meira and Mauro Mendonça.

Xuxa, who was 18 at the time, was still a model and had a small role. But when she became famous as a children’s presenter, she began to be attacked for her participation in the film, which ended up being classified as pornographic, despite being classified by the censorship at that time for those over 14 years old.

Listen to the Fantástico podcast:

“In the film, I played the role of a 15-year-old girl who was sold to a brothel where there was a 12-year-old boy. It is not my biography nor does it come close to my story,” Xuxa said.

The presenter went to court and, for almost 30 years, managed to prevent the film from being shown. He also paid the distributor annually to secure the rights to the film. But since 2018, according to the Xuxa press office, ‘Amor, Estranho Amor’ is free. She completely changed her posture.

“Whoever has not seen the film, please watch. Because this film talks about something very current, which is child exploitation, this is the reality of many people,” said the presenter in an exclusive interview with Fantástico.
