WhatsApp announces button for in-app purchases

SAO PAULO – WhatsApp announced that it will introduce a purchase button in the application starting this Tuesday (10). The novelty will be an update made to WhatsApp Business accounts, with which consumers can interact with companies when buying a product.

The new feature should help people find a company’s catalog and find out what products or services it offers. Previously, users had to click on the company profile to confirm that a catalog was available.

With the purchase button, the user will immediately know that that business has a catalog and will be able to consult the available products as well as start a conversation about an item that interests them with just one touch.

Thus, the objective is that companies can present their products in a simpler way and that they can increase sales, according to WhatsApp.

The new purchase button is available for all the countries in which the company operates from this Tuesday and will replace the voice call button in conversations with companies that use WhatsApp Business.

To find the voice call button, just tap the call button to select a voice or video call.

According to the company, currently more than 175 million people exchange messages with a WhatsApp Business account on a daily basis, and more than 40 million people access a business catalog each month, with more than 13 million in Brazil alone.

According to a recent survey by Accenture, 83% of Brazilian adults say they are more willing to buy from companies that use messaging applications than from companies that do not use these types of tools.

“WhatsApp aims to continue to improve the shopping experience for its users, especially as the end of the year approaches, when people will need practical ways to shop remotely and companies also rely on digital tools to close sales,” he said the company on a note.
