Forty-one people died in an accident with a bus and a truck in Rodovia Alfredo de Oliveira Carvalho (SP-249), in the interior of São Paulo, this Wednesday morning (24). The Civil Police spoke with witnesses and victims who survived. The causes of the accident are still being investigated.

According to Artesp (São Paulo State Transportation Agency), the Star Fretamento e Locação Eireli EPP company has been operating illegally since October 11, 2019.
The agency claims that Star had at least three violations this year regarding irregular passenger transportation.

Lawyer of Stattus Jeans Indústria e Comércio Ltda, Emerson Fernandes told Twitter that the bus was a kind of ‘capacity’ hired by the employees themselves, with no direct connection to the company.
Most of the occupants were from the city of Itaí.
“We are working together with Mr. Gustavo, from the city of Itaí, with the intention of delivering the bodies as soon as possible to help at the funerals in Itaí,” said Fernandes, adding that the company is dismayed.
The Itaí City Council declared the official mourning and made three gyms in the city available for a collective funeral.
As of Wednesday night, the bodies of ten of the 41 victims had been recognized and released.
