The word “basculho” has become one of the most commented terms on social networks since the early hours of this Tuesday (16), after being used by Pernambuco Gilberto in BBB 21. Regionalism was used during a discussion with Pocah, then of a Game of Discord.
The discussion began after Pocah was satisfied why Gilberto said that everything he did was calculated.

According to the writing teacher Fernanda Bérgamo, who participates in the Educational Project of Balloon and is a columnist for CBN Recife, the expression is an old regionalism, little known to young people.
“Dump is rest, which everyone despises. It is under the garbage, because garbage is very much enjoyed. The dump is useless. It was a way for him to show his contempt for Pocah, ”said the teacher.
“It is a regional expression, unknown to young people today. Gilberto is young, but he is a scholar and has his roots in the Northeast. You probably heard from your mother, aunts, grandmother, or grandfather. It is an expression that even my generation does not know in depth. Basculho comes from a linguistic variation that is equal to that of tipper and vasculant, which allows the use of the ‘b’ or the ‘v’ ”, explained Bergamo.
The teacher also said that she liked that the expressions used in the northeast of Brazil were presented to the rest of the country. For her, this is a way to combat linguistic biases.
“We are seeing a very consistent fight against linguistic biases, because many people despise the Northeast way of speaking. And we will hear several of these pearls from the mouths of those who are so spontaneous, like Gilberto and Juliette, ”he said.
