Atypical heat should reach states in the South, Southeast, and Midwest regions throughout the week
An atypical heat wave is expected to hit regions of Brazil this week, with temperatures above 40 ° C in the South, Midwest and Southeast, with hotter spots spread over places that can reach 45 ° C. The forecast was published by MetSul Meteorologia this Sunday (27), and also converges with information from Weather Tempo, both pointing to the possibility of “breaking records” in thermometers in the period.
“There is a possibility that absolute maximum temperature records will be broken in some cities and that the marks will be among the highest recorded in decades in some regions. The heat episode for its size and intensity will recall extreme events of high temperature and dry air that usually reach California and Australia ”, published MetSul.
Climate Tempo warned that, between October 5 and 7, “the meteorological models indicate a third very expressive warming episode,” which should generate temperature records, especially in the city of São Paulo.
According to MetSul, the atypical warming is produced by a “giant hot air bubble” that has acted on the regions for a few weeks and should be radicalized in the coming days. The low relative humidity of the air and the ground exacerbates the situation, according to the company.
“The temperature anomalies shown by the numerical models are absolutely unusual, with large deviations. Computer simulations even project a temperature between 15ºC and 20ºC above normal in the Center-South of Brazil ”, concludes the alert.
