MetSul Meteorologia anticipates a lot of rain in the southern half of Rio Grande do Sul. On Saturday night, MetSul’s weather forecast is for rain in most regions of the state, except for one area further to the northwest and north of the territory. from Rio Grande do Sul. Dry weather will continue to prevail.
The rain, in general, will be light to moderate and, in isolation, there will be strong blows to strong torrential storms at different points. Among the areas with such potential are the Serra, the valleys, Greater Porto Alegre, the surroundings of Lagoa dos Patos and the south of Rio Grande do Sul, all in the Middle East. The risk of storms is low, but isolated cases of hail cannot be ruled out.
On Sunday, the weather will remain unstable for part of the day in most regions, but the trend is for the north and northwest of the state to have a predominance of dry weather, with high temperatures and heat in the afternoon. In parts of the Center and Northeast of the State, which includes Greater Porto Alegre and Serra, the weather should improve during the day with the presence of sun and clouds, which causes greater warming after a Sunday start with possible instability.
Sunday’s rain tends to be more concentrated in part of the West, in areas of the border with Uruguay and in the South of Rio Grande do Sul. In the south of the state, in particular, large volumes of rain can be expected. With a very hot air supply in the northern half of the state, dense clouds can form in the west and south with lightning and a risk of isolated hail.
The models coincide in indicating that the most voluminous rainfall should be concentrated in the southern half of the state, but they differ in the positioning of the area with the greatest accumulations. In the projections for 72h (until 9am on Tuesday), the German Icon model projects that the most voluminous rain would be located in a strip from West to South of Rio Grande do Sul that would cover a part of the Central State (São Gabriel). The WRF model, on the other hand, projects that the rainfall with the highest volumes would occur more in the South.
The rain accumulated until mid-afternoon on Saturday reached 45 mm in Rosário do Sul, 35 mm in Camaquã and Encruzilhada do Sul, and 30 mm in Alegrete, Quaraí and Dom Pedrito.
