The students of the schools of the Vitória municipal school will not return to face-to-face classes in 2020. After consulting with the school community, most chose to keep the activities at a distance until the end of the school year. The Capital of Espírito Santo joins at least 36 other municipalities that have already declared, in a survey of A gazette, who do not return this year. Classes were suspended across the state in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the government authorized the resumption starting in October.
The Municipal Secretariat of Education (Seme) listened to the families, in the consultation carried out by the School Councils, and 80% preferred to continue with non-face-to-face activities, registering that they would not send their children to schools to attend classes by relief , considering the situation of the coronavirus pandemic and the fact that there are just over 20 school days left until the end of the school year. The survey was conducted with the school community at all stages: Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Youth and Adult Education (EJA).
According to Seme staff, distance activities will continue to be carried out using the AprendeVix platform and the printed material made available by the teaching units. The Undersecretary of Educational Management, Maria do Carmo Starling de Oliveira, adds that the proposal is to intensify activities in order to strengthen the teaching-learning process.
The 102 teaching units of the municipal network were already being adapted with the required security protocols, to make the return feasible, however the decision of the municipality was to follow the majority position. Maria do Carmo guarantees that, as soon as the return is possible, the schools will be ready to receive the students.
