The “UFC: Smith x Teixeira” was not an event for those who cannot bear to see blood. This Wednesday’s tournament in Jacksonville (USA) positively surprised with good fights and knockouts among the lesser-known fighters on the card, but also had some impressive injuries.

There is no image record of how Anthony Smith’s mouth cared for his he lost to Glover Teixeira, but the American was so badly beaten that he broke his orbital bone and nose and lost some teeth with the blows to the face. At one point in the fight, he seemed to lift one of those teeth on the canvas and hand it over to referee Jason Herzog. Then, when he went to their corner, he admitted to his coaches: “My teeth are falling out.”
The first round was clearly won by Anthony Smith. However, Glover grew in the second round and, from the third round, slaughtered the American.

It was a beating that, at one point in the fourth round, dominating the opponent from above, the Brazilian told him: “Sorry, it is part of the job”, the two are friends outside the octagon. Smith replied, “That is correct.”
Another grotesque injury was in the third game of the night, a battle between Venezuelan Omar Morales and Mexican Gabriel Benítez. The two fighters frankly exchanged blows throughout the match. However, Benítez was not only defeated by a unanimous decision by the judges, but ended up with a big cut on his left shin.

Knockouts and presentations mark event
Unlike last Saturday’s event, UFC: Smith x Teixeira started with a lot of action. The first two fights saw beautiful knockouts: first by Chase Sherman, with a hard elbow that sent Ike Villanueva to the canvas. Then with Brian Kelleher, who hit a cross to knock down Hunter Azure and closed the account with punches to the ground.

Moses’ teammate on the American Top Team, Philipe Lins made his UFC debut against former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. The potiguer’s fight was almost the opposite of his colleague’s: he made a good first round, but his opponent found himself in the second round and won by unanimous decision of the judges.
