Through the images you can see the deputy Fernando Cury talking with another deputy. Then, he makes a move towards Congresswoman Isa Penna, who leans on the board of directors of the Chamber, and speaks again with another parliamentarian, but again addresses the deputy. Cury then stands behind the aide, patting his chest and immediately tries to push him away.
According to a note from the deputy, she and other parliamentarians have been harassed on other occasions.
“Congresswoman Isa Penna is known for working in the fight against violence against women and says that the political gender violence that she suffered publicly in ALESP is unfortunately not an exceptional case, since she and the deputies Mônica Seixas and Erica Malunguinho, from the same party, they have been harassed on previous occasions, ”the note says.
In a speech before the plenary session on Thursday (17), the PSOL deputy said that she will register a police report against the Citizenship parliamentarian and open a representation against him in the Chamber’s Ethics Council.
“The case in which we live is not isolated. We see political and institutional violence against women all the time. What gives someone the right to touch an intimate part of my body. My chest is intimate. It is my body. I am here asking for the right to stand up and speak to the President of the Assembly without being harassed, ”said Isa Penna.
Also in plenary, Congressman Cury apologized for “hugging” his colleague. He denied that there had been sexual harassment or harassment.
“I come to this gallery today very ashamed and very sad for the fact that you were here and denounced, for the trial that was made, but I am here to pass my version on to you. First of all, I would like to emphasize to everyone, especially the women here, that there was no attempt on my part to harass, sexual harassment or anything or any other similar name. I never did that in my life. And I want to say, vehemently, especially to fellow MEPs here, I never did that. But if Congresswoman Isa Penna was offended by the hug I gave her, at first I would like to apologize. Sorry if I embarrassed you. Sorry if I tried, as I do with several colleagues here, hug me and be close. If with this gesture I embarrassed her and she was offended, I apologize ”.
In a note, Alesp indicated that the Ethics Council will evaluate the case.
