A video surveillance camera captured the moment when a white Jeep Compass explodes while traveling along Avenida Adalberto Simão Nader, in Vitória, in the region of the new airport, around 12:30 pm on Friday (30). The driver was charred to death.
Initially, the Fire Department reported that the explosion occurred after the driver hit a tree with the car, but security camera footage shows that it exploded on its own.
At the scene of the accident, the information was that the car was running on gas and the cylinder had exploded. However, the Fire Department and the Civil Police Inspection did not confirm this suspicion and an agent from the Vitória Municipal Guard, who also responded to the incident, denied this hypothesis. The information is still being verified.
A resident of the region, Wendel Vieira, 46, tried to help the driver, but was unsuccessful. Also initially, it was reported that a person managed to get out of the vehicle, but, according to the witness, the victim was alone in the vehicle.
“He looked me straight in the face and asked me to get him out of there. I’m frustrated, because I already saved so much life, when I had a kiosk on the beach and always helped those who drowned. Today I felt helpless,” said the boy .
