Video: Car hits pedestrians and cyclist on Boa Viagem beach in Recife

Hyundai Tucson collided with the back of a Volkswagen Polo and then hit the bike path at the city’s famous beach; several people were injured

A serious accident occurred this Sunday morning (20), on Boa Viagem beach, in Recife (PE). According to witnesses, a high-speed Hyundai Tucson failed to brake and hit the rear of another VW Polo.

Out of control, the truck left the track and proceeded down the beach bike path, which was packed with cyclists and pedestrians. Camera footage of a building on the edge of the beach captured the moment of the accident.

According to the police, at least four people were injured, two of them in serious condition. The 36-year-old Polo driver suffered an open clavicle fracture and was referred to a hospital in downtown Recife.

The 20-year-old Tucson driver took a breathalyzer test, which came back negative for drunkenness, for which he was not arrested. However, he did not produce any car or CNH documents and claimed his wallet was stolen shortly after the accident.
