According to ProtonDB, all these games work perfectly without modifications
According to ProtonDBthe Proton project of Valve already made the game available more than 6,500 Windows games in the operating system Linux. For those unfamiliar, Project Proton is just a tool developed by Valve Software so that Windows games can be run on Linux through Steam.
ProtonDB, in turn, is a portal that seeks to gather information from other players, while testing Linux games and providing scores on the performance of those titles. Steam has a limited group of games on its “whitelist” that are considered Proton-compatible, and according to reports from ProtonDB, you can play quite a few games that aren’t on that list, just like on Windows.
According to him, all these 6,500 games work perfectly without modifications in Linux. At the time of this publication, the portal has 78,240 reports and 12,871 games cited.
Among the most popular titles playable through Proton are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, PUBG, GTA V and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Other games that are not yet officially whitelisted on Steam Play, but have received positive reports on ProtonDB include:
– The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (analysis);
– No Man’s Sky (analysis);
– GTA V;
– The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim;
– Sekiro Shadows Die Twice (analysis) // (Game and prose);
– Hitman 2 (analysis);
– Hellblade: Senua’s sacrifice (analysis) // (Game and prose).
Currently, more than 100 games get full Linux compatibility every month. Of the top 1000 games on Steam, 67% work perfectly after minor tweaks.
