Region – The R07 – Novo Hamburgo region (which includes Araricá, Campo Bom, Nova Hartz and Sapiranga) was again classified with the orange flag. The update was released late on Friday afternoon (25), in the Controlled distance website. The relaxation of the restrictions will take effect from this Saturday (26).
This is the first time since the beginning of the controlled distance model that the 21 regions of the state are classified with the same flag color, in this case, orange.

“The most recent Controlled Distance map for the month of September, published this Friday (9/25), reveals a situation that many gauchos were waiting for: the improvement of indicators. The 21 Covid regions are classified, in this round 21, under the orange flag (medium epidemiological risk).
New records of hospitalizations for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which resulted in a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19, have fallen 25% in recent weeks, from 1,016 to 793. In addition, between the last two Thursdays, the number deaths caused by the disease fell by 19%, from 338 to 273.
ICU patients hospitalized for SARS decreased by 9% (from 884 to 806) and the number of patients hospitalized in ICU beds with Covid-19 decreased by 5% (from 693 to 658). These decreases, observed between the last two Thursdays, resulted in an increase in the number of free ICU beds for adults, which grew by 11% between the last Thursday, from 614 to 684.
As of yet, the all-orange map scenario has yet to be featured in the state. The last time RS registered a yellow flag (low epidemiological risk) was in the eighth round (two regions), between June 30 and July 6. Since then, the map has oscillated between red and orange flags.
Statewide, there was an improvement in all indicators, especially new hospitalizations (-25%) and deaths (-19%). With that, more beds were left free.
Even with the increase in patients hospitalized for other reasons, the fall in the number of patients hospitalized by Covid-19 and the opening of new beds translated into an increase in the proportion of free beds for each occupied by Covid-19.
In round 20 of Controlled Distance, four regions (Novo Hamburgo, Cruz Alta, Santo Ângelo and Porto Alegre) were classified in red. The improvement in the service capacity indicators of the macro-regions and the State caused the weighted average of the four regions to fall, which allowed them to be classified in orange ”.
