The proposed repeal of Resolution No. 782, of June 18, 2020, which dealt with the suspension of process deadlines and procedures of the National Traffic System (SNT) due to the new coronavirus pandemic. The endorsement was granted by the National Traffic Council (Contran).

Now, with the approval of the measure, the obligation to return to CNH renewal (National driver’s license) and other pending vehicle business. Therefore, transfer of vehicles and sending of appraisal notice, will return and will have a new term as of December 1, 2020.

“The publication was necessary, since the transit agencies were paralyzed and therefore could not meet the deadlines established in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB). We seek to establish rules that allow the resumption of services and deadlines in order to cause the least inconvenience to the citizen, adapting to the service capacity of the transit agencies ”, explained the president of Contran and general director of the National Directorate of Transit (Denatran), Frederico Carneiro.

Thus, the revocation re-establishes the calculation of the deadlines, in a flexible way, following the normalization of the activities in person with the public and the compliance with the deadlines provided for in the legislation.

New deadlines

It should be noted that the resumption will vary according to the type of service, from those related to traffic violations, to the CNH, through the vehicle license and the processes that involve Authorized Technical Institutions (ITL).

The registration deadlines for new vehicle licenses, which have not expired on March 20, will be counted again from scratch.

The defense of appraisal, communication of a new address, transfer of ownership of the vehicle, defense of appraisal, presentation of appeal, sale of vehicle and renewal of authorization documents, expiring as of February 19, 2020, must be resumed from from December 1 of this year.

Finally, the notifications of infractions, committed between February 26 and November 30, will follow a schedule of 10 months, starting from the date of the infraction, and will follow the provisions of the CTB.
