According to research analyst Adriana Beringuy, the rise in the unemployment rate also reflects the relaxation of social isolation measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic. “In April and May, social distance measures still influenced people’s decision not to look for work. With the relaxation of these measures, we began to perceive a larger contingent of people seeking employment, ”he says.

With the new fall, the occupancy level fell to 47.1%, the lowest in the historical series, compared to 47.9% in the previous quarter (47.9%). Since the quarter ended in May, the level of employment has been below 50%, indicating that less than half of the working-age population is employed in the country.
