The club has been suffering from the Covid-19 outbreak in recent days. Against Ceará, last Wednesday, for the Brazil Cup, there were 15 absences due to illness. Still, the board did not raise the postponement requests as a possibility.
That’s because Palmeiras believes that the protocol that was approved by the teams, along with the CBF, should be followed, even in fairness to all participants in the competitions. To ask to postpone a match would be to go against something that the club itself agreed to before the return of football.

In addition, the board wants to maintain coherence in this regard, since it was firm in its position to enter the field against Flamengo, about two months ago, when the rival was going through the same situation and had few players at its disposal.
Requesting a postponement now would be inconsistent in management’s view.
The attitude of Palmeiras at that time is to face the difficulties imposed by the coronavirus pandemic and manage in the way possible while the outbreak of the disease in the club does not pass.
The internal assessment, in fact, is that Abel Ferreira’s technical committee has had an excellent performance in this regard, as they have not lost any games, despite numerous recent absences.
Adding injured and sanctioned, in addition to those who tested positive for Covid, Palmeiras will have 21 absences for the duel with Goiás, this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Verdão is fifth in the competition, with 34 points.
