Uncle Wilson, drummer of the band Lagum, dies at 34 after a drive-in movie at MG | Minas Gerais

The drummer of the mining band Lagum, Breno Braga, 34, passed away on Saturday night (12), better known as Uncle Wilson. According to a statement from the band, he felt ill after a concert and died of cardiac arrest.

Uncle Wilson was the eldest of the five members and therefore received this nickname.

The band performed yesterday at 9 pm in a drive-in movie theater in Nova Lima, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. In minutes, tickets were sold out and an extra session opened at 11pm.

Uncle Wilson died in the interval between the two performances. The press office did not say whether he died there or was taken to hospital.

Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, information about the artist’s funeral and burial will not be released either.

Formed in 2014, with a repertoire that mixes pop, reggae and alternative rock, Lagum is known mainly for the song “Deixa”.

The hit reached the list of the 20 most listened to songs on Spotify and was sung by Neymar on social networks. The most famous version was recorded in partnership with the singer from São Paulo, Ana Gabriela.

The name of the band comes from a lagoon in the mining town of Brumadinho, where part of the band grew up. Formerly made up of friends who lived in the same region, the formation has undergone some changes.

Uncle Wilson joined the group in 2016. He earned the nickname of being the oldest member of the quintet.

Lagum’s most recent release is the song “Foi”, in association with singer Iza, released in June. On social media, fans mourned the death of the drummer.
