The fans and coach Fernando Diniz, from São Paulo, complained about a possible referee error for not expelling Facundo Pérez, from Lanús, after allegedly getting two yellow cards, which would necessarily cause the expulsion.
The confusion occurred in the defeat of the Tricolor by 3 to 2 this Wednesday night, in Argentina, for the first game of the second phase of the South American Cup.
The error occurred because the Conmebol TV broadcast erroneously credited Pérez with a yellow card in the 45th minute of the first half, after a discussion between the Lanús athlete and Bruno Alves. Look down:

However, the report consulted São Paulo. The club said it had pictures showing the card was given to Bruno Alves. Conmebol’s summary also confirms this.

Then, in the 21st minute of the second half, Pérez effectively received a yellow card, which led to the questioning of a possible error in the referee for not being sent off after two yellow cards.

Shortly after, in the 25th minute of the second half, Pérez was replaced by Belluschi, which increased complaints.
Pérez’s non-existent billboard in the first half of the Conmebol TV broadcast was reproduced on the entity’s official website and also on the official Lanús twitter.
Following the defeat, Diniz commented on the confusion at the press conference:
– We put two balls on the post, we had an at least questionable goal disallowed, an expulsion that was supposed to have been given to number 16 (Facundo Pérez). There was a confusion that we have not understood until now.
Despite the defeat, São Paulo’s mission in the second leg is not so complicated. Due to goals scored away from home, Tricolor needs to win by a goal difference (up to 2 to 1) to advance to the round of 16.
The match against Lanús is scheduled for next Wednesday (4), at 7.15pm, at the Morumbi stadium.
