On Thursday (30), the President of the United States commented again on the situation in Brazil in the midst of this coronavirus pandemic.

President Donald Trump said the number of deaths from Covid-19 in Brazil is high and said: “If you look at the charts, you will see that it is increasing a lot.” Trump again said that he is a great friend of Bolsonaro, but that the country faces a difficult time to combat the disease.

He criticized Sweden, which did not impose social isolation on the population. Trump previously said Swedes now pay the price with far more dead than neighboring countries.

Despite initially opposing the shutdown of the US economy, Trump said: “The United States has made the right decision with social isolation.”

At the White House, Donald Trump also spoke about the origin of the new coronavirus. The US president said the Chinese government either did not have the competition to contain the epidemic or simply let the virus spread.

The United States is investigating whether the epidemic began with contact with an animal in China or was the result of an accident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The director of National Intelligence in the United States published in a note that the virus probably occurred naturally and was not created in the laboratory.

In the interview, Trump was asked if he had a high degree of confidence that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was the source of the virus. Contrary to the intelligence director’s note, he replied yes. But the president said he could not present the evidence.

The Chinese government recently said the pandemic was a natural disaster and accused the United States of using the virus to stigmatize China.
