This year’s New Year’s Eve in Copacabana will be without public presence

The change from 2020 to 2021 on Copacabana beach and in other neighborhoods of the city will not have a public presence, as traditionally occurs, due to the new coronavirus pandemic. The New Year’s Eve party will be broadcast live over the internet on the official channel of Riotur (Tourism Company of the Municipality of Rio) on Youtube, with interpreters from pounds in all presentations.

The possibility of broadcasting through open or closed TV is also foreseen. Riotur intends to offer musical attractions in the main tourist spots in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the presentation of great artists from the national and international scene and laser lighting, among various visual effects.

“Rio New Year’s Eve 2021 will have a new model, due to the scenario in which the world is facing the covid-19 pandemic, and the format will be different from the one we already had in the city. New Year Eve social responsibility and we will not encourage people to take to the streets. In addition, the private sector will have a unique opportunity to create a New Year Eve that is striking, translating the feeling of hope and desire that we have a better year ”, said the acting president of Riotur, Fabrício Villa Flor de Carvalho.

He stressed that the new New Year’s Eve should be one of renewal and reflection, with an act of respect and a tribute to the victims and professionals who are on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic. “Now, with the Specifications and Contracts already published, we await proposals from companies that want to be part of this new special year with creative projects that are in harmony with the current reality,” added Carvalho.

Riotur published today, in the Official Gazette of the Municipality, the Call for Bidding Documents and Counterparts for Rio’s New Year’s Eve 2021. Those interested can obtain the document and its annexes at the headquarters of the Tourism Company, in Cidade das Artes, in Barra da Tijuca, or by email [email protected].

Interested companies must communicate their interest in sending proposals in the same email, before 5:00 p.m. on October 22. Then, the proposals will only be presented on October 27 of this year.

The organizing company chosen to carry out the event will be in charge of the entire organization, from the development of the project, which will be judged among other items for its originality and creativity, through the infrastructure to the post-production of the event of the shift. In addition, the company will be responsible for the financial viability of the project and must obtain sponsorship. Only one brand will be allowed to sign as “submitted by” and up to eight brands to sign as “sponsorship.”

All the items contained in the Specifications and Counterparts are a minimum guideline with basic requirements for companies to present their projects and proposals that must comply with the golden rules of the Rio de Janeiro City Resumption Plan.
