The bond between Libertad-PAR and Palmeiras The quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores de América generated a series of controversial moves. Two of them caught the attention of the Palmeiras fan and generated complaints from the coaching staff.

Right at the start of the game, forward Ron took a “hit” from the defender and fell into the box. Palmeirenses complained about a penalty. In the second stage, Cáceres, who already had a yellow card, slapped Raphael Veiga, who was left without the ball.

Fernando Rapallini was called by the video referee to analyze the possibility of a Palmeiras penalty on Ron. “Fernando, what I see is that the defender has his arms open and the attacker (Ron) goes to the arm. There is contact between the arm and the face, of course ”, said one of the components of the VAR table.

In response, Rapallini admits that he will not change his decision. “I already analyzed the contact, spread your arms. Mauro, sorry, the decision has already been made. I restart the game and uphold my decision, ”confirmed the match official.

The slap to Raphael Veiga was ignored

Nine minutes into the second half, Cáceres slapped midfielder Raphael Veiga on the head. With the game underway, both the video referee and Fernando Rapallini decided to ignore the play, without verifying. Cáceres had a yellow card and could have been expelled for the violent act.

“We have been alerted to the type of game the opponent is playing. Much grief and much aggression. There were some actions that, if it were up to us, were not programmed and for them it was easier. But it happened. We will continue working, ”said João Martins, one of Abel Ferreira’s assistants, after the match.

Palmeiras did not like the arbitration and will speak with representatives of Conmebol in order not to appoint Argentine or Uruguayan judges for the second leg.
