The ministers of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), in a session held on Tuesday night (10), disqualified former governor Ricardo Coutinho (PSB). They analyzed three Electoral Judicial Investigation Actions (Aijes) that weighed against the socialist in the Court of Appeal. The decision is made five days before the municipal elections on Sunday (15), in which Ricardo is running for mayor of João Pessoa.
By note, the candidate’s defense said that the TSE’s decision does not affect Ricardo Coutinho’s candidacy, since it had already been granted by the electoral justice. Therefore, according to the lawyers, for all legal purposes it remains in dispute (check the full note at the end of the matter).
The first Aije judged by the TSE was that of “Personal”, which only had the fine increased, after the vote of the speaker-minister Og Fernandes. Ricardo’s fine is now R $ 70,000, while Lieutenant Governor Lígia Feliciano must pay a fine of R $ 5,320.50. In the case of Empreender and PBPrev, the punishment was the application of ineligibility. The only contrary vote was that of Minister Sérgio Silveira Banhos.
When announcing the result, the president of the TSE, Minister Luiz Roberto Barroso, decided that the ineligibility will take effect immediately, without having to wait for the sentence to be published. Thus, despite being able to contest the elections on Sunday (15), the coach will have his possession contested in court in case of victory.
