ROME, APRIL 27 (ANSA) – The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) worldwide exceeded the three million mark, according to a survey by Johns Hopkins University published on Monday (27 ).
Data revealed on an interactive map of the US institution indicates that there are 3,002,303 people infected with Covid-19 in 185 countries.
According to the balance, the number of deaths worldwide is 207,583.
The United States has the highest number of infected, with 972,969 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, which means almost a third of the total. Regarding deaths, the United States territory recorded 208,131 deaths. The following is Spain, with 229,422 infected and 23,521 deaths, and Italy, which has 199,414 infected people and 26,977 victims.
In the ranking, Brazil, in turn, occupies the 11th place, with 63,328 cases and 4,298 deaths. Contamination by the virus has accelerated since the disease, named Covid-19, was reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) on December 31 of last year. Until now, there is no cure or vaccine. That is why authorities around the world are promoting social isolation as the primary measure to slow the spread of the new coronavirus. (ANSA)
