“The thing no longer worked”

The recent results were the reason for the dismissal of coach Ramón Menezes at Vasco. At least it was with this argument that the club’s vice president of football, José Luis Moreira, justified the coach’s departure today (8).

“It was the results. Things weren’t working anymore,” said the sports in quick contact by phone.

Moreira was also asked if the board has a name to replace Ramón and if the football department has already defined who will lead the team in the classic this Saturday (10), against Flamengo, in São Januário (RJ).

“We are still defining it,” he declared before saying goodbye and hanging up.

Ramón had not won six games and was eliminated from the Brazil Cup by Botafogo. In the last two days of the Brazilian Championship he suffered overwhelming defeats against Atlético-MG (4 to 1) and Bahia (3 to 0), results that were decisive for the dismissal decision.

In 16 games in charge of the team, Ramón Menezes added eight victories, three draws and five defeats. The club has not yet defined a replacement.

This Saturday (10), Vasco faces the classic with Flamengo in São Januário (RJ).
