The status of SP reaches 935,300 confirmed cases of covid-19

The São Paulo state government updated the total of confirmed cases of covid-19 to 935,300, this Sunday afternoon (20). In the official balance, 33,952 deaths from the disease are also listed.

According to the survey on the profile of fatalities carried out by the State Secretariat of Health (SES) of the state, people aged 60 and over are the ones who die the most from the new coronavirus, and correspond to 76.2% of the total. The figures reveal that contamination is higher among women: 492,911 cases have already been counted against 436,297 men. However, mortality is higher in the male population: 19,632 deaths compared to 14,320.

The number of recovered people reaches 792,379 people, 84.7% of the total, of which 102,898 were hospitalized and discharged.

The statement also reports that the bed occupancy rates in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are 47.4% in Greater São Paulo and 48.1% in the rest of the state. Currently, 10,013 patients remain hospitalized, of which 5,817 are housed in nursing beds and 4,196 in the ICU.

“Today, the 645 municipalities have at least one infected person, of which 562 have one or more deaths,” adds the government. According to information released yesterday (19), by the Ministry of Health, São Paulo continues to occupy the state position with the highest number of confirmed cases of covid-19, presenting a sum corresponding to three times that registered by Bahia, second place on the list.
