The annual test of life requirement for retirees and pensioners of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) is suspended until the end of the year. The Social Security Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy reported, at the beginning of the night, that it will publish, on Monday (30), an ordinance with the extension of the measure.
The mandatory annual life test is no longer necessary from March 18, 2020, as a protective measure against the new coronavirus pandemic. The measure, however, does not affect the perception of income and pensions. With the postponement of the resumption of the life test, those who did not have the process between March and December of that year, will not have the benefit blocked until the end of January.
Done every year in the month of the beneficiary’s birthday, proof of life is required to maintain benefit payment. The proof of life requires the assistance of the insured or of a legal or voluntary representative to the banking institution where the benefit is withdrawn.
Since August of last year, the procedure can be carried out through the Meu INSS application or on the agency’s website for beneficiaries over 80 years of age or with mobility restrictions. The mobility difficulties test requires a medical certificate or statement. In this case, all documents are attached and sent electronically.
